MUSE OF THE MONTH
FRANCES PHILLIPS
MEET FRANCES
Model, nutritionist, writer, and the muse behind The Frances Dress - Frances Phillips has a way of making everything look effortless.
Her style? Minimal, classic and 90s inspired. Her inspiration? Jane Birkin meets Rachel Green. Her getting-ready ritual? A martini and a good playlist.
We sat down with Frances to talk about how the collaboration with arkitaip came to life over coffee in London, how she imagines the Frances dress being worn, and the beauty products she swears by morning and night.
Oh, and why the only other 'colour' she’ll make the Frances dress in is white.
Hi Frances, can you give us a little intro to your universe?
Sure! I live in London with my husband and cat. I’ve worked as a model for many years, which has taken me all over the world. I’m also a qualified nutritionist, writer and, I suppose, an influencer too!
Where is home for you?
North London.
How did the collaboration with arkitaip come about?
It was such a natural collaboration! I’ve loved and worn arkitaip pieces for a long time so when Lea was visiting London a few years ago, we met for a coffee. We got chatting about her previous collaborations with artists and how we could maybe do something together. arkitaip completely aligns with my way of consuming fashion so it was the perfect partnership!
Where do you picture someone wearing the Frances Dress - a long dinner by the sea, a city rooftop, a wedding?
Honestly, all of the above! It’s such a versatile piece that can work for so many different occasions. Personally I love to wear mine for lunch or dinner somewhere sunny. It’s such an easy and put together look that requires minimal effort.
If you could describe The Frances in three words, what would they be?
Timeless, easy & chic.
How would you describe your personal style?
I’d say it’s quite minimal and classic, with a focus on comfort as this is what makes me feel most confident. I’m an outfit repeater and stick to a uniform so I don’t have to think about it too much. I’m most inspired by 90s fashion but Jane Birkin will always be my forever muse!
Do you have a go-to getting-ready ritual for a special evening?
Firstly, making sure I have enough time as getting ready is half the fun! I’ll shower and put on a nice robe or slip whilst I do my
make-up. Depending on where I’m going, I might make a martini or Campari soda to drink whilst I’m getting ready. A good playlist is important too!
What's your daily beauty routine?
At the moment, I’m loving the cleanser from a Korean brand called Torriden. Then in the morning I use SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic Serum followed by Augustinus Bader The Cream. I use SPF everyday but I switch up the brand quite a lot. In the evening I’ll use the Mimetique balm cleanser followed by the Torriden cleanser, then either a hyaluronic serum or one called Discolouration Defence from SkinCeuticals, followed by the Augustinus Bader cream. I love LED so I’ll do that at home when I can too.
What are your three favourite arkitaip pieces?
The Frances dress, it goes without saying! I am also really loving the Nicola Mini Slip Dress. I’m not usually a fan of mini dresses but it feels very Rachel Green and has been my holiday favourite this year. I also love the Nicola Cami Top and the midi version of the same dress. I love a 90s spaghetti strap!
What's next for you - anything exciting on the horizon?
Well, this year we are launching another colourway for the Frances Dress so watch this space!
What's your mantra?
I like “this too shall pass.” It’s a reminder that all situations, both good and bad, are temporary.
