We asked London-based stylist Lauren T Franks for some help when it comes to efficiently packing for your next summer holiday.
‘The easiest place to start when packing for a summer holiday, is to choose a colour palette. That way, the items you pack can be interchanged to create new outfits. Star with your non-negotiable wardrobe building blocks and add in some fun items to wear that can't always be worn in your home setting.
Here I have chosen arkitaip's neutrals to build my capsule wardrobe. Linen is especially good for summer holidays because it’s lightweight and breathable, can be washed easily on the go, will dry quickly and looks great a bit wrinkled too!’
‘The Bobby Vest is a great versatile layering pieces to pack for a holiday. Wear with nothing underneath and matching trousers or a silk slip skirt for balmy evening dinners, or use as a layer over a linen shirt if the temperatures start to drop.’
‘An oversized white shirt will always make its way into my holiday suitcase. It's great worn over swimwear as a beach cover-up, is cool enough to wear to keep the sun off sensitive skin, and can be worn with smart trousers in the evening for a chic dinner outfit.’
‘A little black dress of some variety is a must-pack for its reliability. The Malou Mini Kaftan is a great throw-on item that is as at home on the beach as it is paired with statement jewellery and worn after dark.’
‘A neutral pair of linen trousers will work really hard in your holiday wardrobe. They can be dressed up or down and worn day to night. I love the slit which adds that laid-back summer feel.’
‘It's always useful to bring a light layer away with you. Chose an item that will go across everything you’ve packed. And you can wear it to the plane/train to save room in your suitcase.’
‘I love this linen scarf and its multiple functions! Sarong, head scarf, top, bag, beach blanket... this list goes on.’
‘A portable Steamery hand steamer, is great for quickly smoothing out any wrinkled fabric and takes up next to no room in your bag.’
‘Solid gold jewellery is a must for summer holidays. It can be worn in the sea/pool/shower and wont tarnish even with all the SPF, creams and lotions being used!’
‘Sunglasses are a non negotiable packing item. But have you looked into sustainable eyewear? You're looking for brands who use upcyled, regenerative material and plant based acetate that will biodegrade easily.’
‘I always pack a pair of minimal black sandals for holiday. They can be worn with everything and will last for years.’
‘I can't go anywhere without SPF 50. I try to make sure all my skin care products are vegan, cruelty free and packaged in easily recyclable materials. Opting for a solid bar when it comes to suncream and shampoo also means less problems with liquid restrictions when travelling.’
